#Empowering Your Kids: Step 6

I don’t understand why some parents bring their children to church and allow them to #text. I admit that I’m an #OK Boomer. I believe that #faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God according to Romans 10:17. I wonder how much some children are hearing if they are glued to their devices. While they’re texting, on their cells, or i-pads, are they hearing messages that will impact their ability to handle a world filled at times with spiritual darkness, wickedness, confusion, and disregard for others?

According to #Freud’s personality theory, he defined ego strength as the ego’s ability to deal effectively with the demands of the id, superego, and reality. If this is so, how will children acquire the strength to handle unconscious, impulsive behavior, conscious learned behavior, and internalized ideals (morals) if they are #texting in church?

I thought the purpose of attending church was to teach children about #biblical heroes that have overcome darkness, slavery, poverty, spiritual wickedness, dysfunctional relationships, illnesses, and diseases so that they could follow in the footsteps of these mentors.

If your child is on their cell in church, (I’ve seen it as young as two years old), when does a child learn social decorum, etiquette, respect for spiritual authorities, etc.? Sadly, as a teacher, I’ve seen kids that prefer to google their answers on a test which means instead of teaching students, teachers have to spend 5-10 minutes collecting cell phones.

I’ll get off of my bandwagon and exhale because there is some hope. Some parents do believe that education and spiritual development are important. Take a look at this video of a parent who is training her son to be strong, mighty, intelligent, and God-fearing. Not only is she equipping him to have a spiritual armory against negative forces, but is fostering his brain’s development which will have positive effects in the classroom when he is asked by a teacher to do higher-level, analytical thinking. Who knows, maybe this kid will discover a cure for cancer. God bless this mother and her two-year-old baby! She shall be rewarded greatly.

You are loved, capable, intelligent, beautiful, fearfully and wonderfully made by a loving father. #God’s will is that you and your children have an abundant, healthy and fulfilled life. #Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: “Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all…. beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:28-31
