I started this depression series by reminding readers of the importance of remembering the covenant. #Lewis Carroll said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.” Likewise, if you don’t know who you are, it doesn’t matter what happens to you in life. You don’t have a roadmap. Whatever happens, happens.
I’ve come full cycle back to the first step in this series to remind us to remember his covenant with us. When we do, we establish who we are and have a roadmap to get us through the vicissitudes of life. In the wilderness, God told Moses that as the father of #Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he was using him to deliver the Israelites from their oppression.
#God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. Fast forward to 2019, God also sees the afflictions imposed by abusers, and corrupt dictators, politicians, leaders, and governments. He has heard our cries for safer schools, homes, neighborhoods, and #gun control. God does know of our sorrows, hardships, and feelings of depression.
Often, we wonder does God hear us and if so, why is he quiet? Why does he allow poverty, sickness, disease, and mass killings? Man is unique in the animal kingdom. As God’s highest creation he has given us authority over life and death. On the cross, he said, “It is finished.”
As believers, we have authority, like Moses and other biblical heroes to conquer and overcome our enemies through the power of God working in our lives. William Ernest Henley declared this truth as follows: “I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.” As a believer, you have the power and authority to declare victory over your enemies of depression, sickness, poverty, and negative thinking. I dare you to pick up your cross and follow him!
