How do we do the greater things that Jesus said we would do? How do we change the DNA structure of water so that our tears are turned into celebrations of the best wine? #God’s will is that we would flourish like the palm tree.

After #Hurricane Katrina, news reels displayed the aftermath of the storm: pieces of houses and big trees were tossed around like toys, more than 1800 lives were lost, winds exceeded 115 miles per hour, costing the U.S. nearly 106 billion dollars. The palm trees, may have lost a few leaves but for the most part, they were able to stand their ground. And God wants us to flourish like the #palm tree???

As #Gary Coleman would say, “What’choo talkin’ ’bout, Willis (substitute Jesus)?” What is it about the palm tree that causes it to flourish? I’m told they stand their ground because of three things that enable them to withstand the punishing conditions of hurricanes.

Masters of engineering they have: 1) a heavy anchor in the form of large number of short roots spread across the upper levels of the soil, which work to secure a large amount of soil around the root ball. 2) the palm tree’s stem is made of many small bundles of woody, sponge-like material, that make it extremely flexible. It can bend over 40 or 50 degrees without snapping. 3) They have huge leaves with a central, flexible spine. During the storm, the leaves fold up and offer less resistance against the elements.

Actor, producer, #Tyler Perry, whose net worth in 2019 is approximately $600 million, demonstrated these three qualities when he faced torrential storms as follows: 1) When he was homeless, he used the word of God as an anchor.  2) During times of physical and emotional abuse as a child, he was extremely flexible. He escaped to the crawl space underneath his house and created stories that later became plays. 3) Tyler chose to fold up and resist the elements by forgiving his dad who abused him.

You too, have been designed to withstand the storms of life. Use these elements and you too will flourish like a palm tree. I dare you to trust God!

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree. Psalm 92:12 KJV
