#ConqueringDepression: Step 2 #ThisTooShallPass- “#Ain’t No Need To Worry!”

Anita Baker & The Winans – Ain’t No Need To Worry

One look at today’s headlines can cause you to put your head in the sand like an ostrich. High prices and unemployment, refugees “invading” our borders, wars and rumors of war, etc.
I have good news for those who think the sky is falling. It’s a myth that ostriches bury their heads in the sand. But they do dig holes in the dirt to use as nests for their eggs. Several times a day, a bird puts her head in the hole and turns the eggs. So, it does look like the birds are burying their heads in the sand, but they’re not. They’re productively preparing for the next generation.
As we experience hardships in life, take a lesson from the ostrich and learn how to bury some things so that we can experience an abundant life in spite of what’s going on around us. We must tell ourselves—This too shall pass!
Here’s what you can do in these “mean” times, while you’re waiting for your eggs to hatch:
1) Listen to songs like this one by Anita Baker & the Winans to keep your spirits up.
2) Exercise daily—even if it is a five-minute walk. Set an obtainable goal, then increase it gradually to at least 30 minutes a day.
3) Volunteer or find a job even if it’s beneath you. Keeping busy, particularly if you are helping someone else will help fight off depression.
4) Sell or do anything legally that can make you money. Can you bake delicious cookies? Cut grass? Sing? Write articles? What untapped talents do you have that will allow you to make money?
5) Pray for supernatural intervention so that you can connect with someone that can help you get to the next level.
6) Watch your expenses- bring your lunch, make lunch for your husband and kids, buy a whole chicken and bake it yourself. Use the leftovers for sandwiches.
7) Watch a funny movie and daily continue to count your blessings for all the good things you already have in your life.
I guarantee that if you follow these steps, you will release healthy endorphins that will strengthen your immune system and you will be a winner at life!
(His favor is for life. Crying may last for a night, but joy comes with the new day. Psalm 30:5 NLV)
